Park
grants and awards
Within the past few months, the Park has received three grants that will assist
in the Childrens' Barn restoration, and will further develop our partnership
and commitment to the Danvers public schools system in providing environmental
education for teachers and students. In addition, the park was awarded a family
favoite designation by the Boston Parents's Paper. The details follow;
- D.E.E.P.
Grant of $500 in April, 1998: In partnership with 4th grade teachers
Dale Nagle from Thorpe and Eric Wormstead of Riverside schools we
developed a grant to purchase equipment, to be housed at the park,
for outdoor science studies.
- STAR
Grant of $11,262 in December 1998: In partnership with Lisa Dana,
Director of Analytic Studies Department, Danvers public schools,
we co-wrote a grant entitled "Life at Endicott Park" for
a K-12 project in which all teachers and students will have the opportunity
to access inquiry tools and exemplary inquiry activities at Endicott
Park. Equipment, tools and instruments to be housed at the park.

- Essex
National Heritage Area Grant of $2,900 in October 1998: In partnership
with Joan Townley, Executive Director and Mimi Cooper, Director of
the Friends of Endicott Park, this grant was submitted to help raise
funds towards the restoration of the Childrens' Barn at the park.

- The
Boston Parent's Paper Family Favorite Award: This was an unsolicited
and unexpected surprise which arived by mail last month. The attached
letter confirms our committment to cater to families from Danvers
and beyond. "KIDS AND TREES SHOULD GROW UP TOGETHER"
